Affiliate Disclosure

1. The short version

CoolCompair is a free-to-read editorial site, supported by affiliate commissions. When you click a "See at retailer" button and complete a purchase at the retailer, we may earn a small percentage of the sale at no extra cost to you. You pay the same price you would if you went to the retailer directly.

We disclose this relationship plainly so that you can make an informed decision before clicking any link on the site, as required by the US Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255), the UK Advertising Standards Authority (CAP Code), and equivalent rules in the EU, Australia, the UAE and South Africa.

2. Which programmes we participate in

CoolCompair is a participant in, or applies to, the following affiliate programmes:

• Amazon Associates — Amazon UK, US, Australia, Spain, Italy, France, and the UAE. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
• Awin — for retailers including Currys, AO, Boulanger, Darty and El Corte Inglés.
• Impact.com — for retailers including The Home Depot and Best Buy.
• Commission Factory — for retailers including Bunnings and The Good Guys (Australia).
• TradeDoubler — for retailers including MediaMarkt (Spain) and MediaWorld (Italy).
• ArabyAds — for retailers including Sharaf DG and Carrefour UAE.
• Unieuro Affiliati — direct programme for Unieuro (Italy).

We may add or remove programmes from time to time. The retailers currently active for your region are listed in our footer.

3. How affiliate links work on this site

Every "See at retailer" or "Check price" call-to-action on CoolCompair is a tracked link. When you click it, your browser is redirected through our endpoint https://coolcompair.com/api/aff/<offer-id>, which appends the relevant tracking parameter for that programme (for example, ?tag= for Amazon, or UTM-style parameters for other networks) and forwards you to the retailer's product page. The retailer or its affiliate network then sets its own cookies and, if you complete a purchase within their cookie window, attributes the sale to CoolCompair.

You can hover over any link to see the destination, and the retailer's URL bar will show the final domain once redirection is complete.

4. What this changes about the price you pay

Nothing. The price you see at the retailer is exactly the same whether you arrive via our link or type the retailer's URL directly. Our commission is paid by the retailer out of their margin, not added on top of your basket.

5. Editorial independence

We separate editorial and commercial decisions to keep our reviews useful:

• Products are chosen on merit by our editors. We do not accept payment for inclusion, ranking, or favourable wording.
• Scores are calculated from a fixed methodology (cooling capacity, coverage area, noise level, energy rating, build quality and long-term reliability). The methodology is the same regardless of which retailer carries the product or which network pays the commission.
• We disclose commercial relationships clearly on every page that contains affiliate links.
• If a retailer pulls out of a programme or changes the terms in a way that would compromise our editorial coverage, we will continue to recommend the best product — not the most lucrative.

6. Sponsored content and gifted products

Where a piece of content is sponsored, paid for, or based on a free-of-charge review unit, we label it clearly with one of: "Sponsored", "Paid partnership", or "Review unit supplied by manufacturer". Sponsorship never buys a favourable verdict — only the publication slot.

7. Prices and availability

Our price-comparison engine re-checks each listing at least once a day. Despite this, retailer prices and stock change continuously and the figure shown on CoolCompair may not match the retailer's at the exact moment you click through. Pages older than 48 hours display a "Price may have changed" badge until they refresh. Always confirm the final price at the retailer before you check out.

8. Your choices

• You can disable third-party cookies in your browser; this prevents most affiliate networks from attributing your purchase to us, but you will still get the same retailer price.
• You can choose to type the retailer's URL directly into your browser instead of using our link — you will get the same price and the same product.
• You can contact us at hello@coolcompair.com if you spot a listing that appears biased or out of date.

9. FTC, ASA, EU, POPIA and Amazon-specific notice

Pursuant to the United States Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255 ("Endorsement Guides"), the UK Advertising Standards Authority's CAP Code, EU Directive 2005/29/EC on unfair commercial practices, Australia's ACCC guidance on testimonials, and South Africa's Consumer Protection Act, we hereby disclose that CoolCompair has a material connection (financial) with the retailers and affiliate networks listed above. As required by the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement: "As an Amazon Associate, CoolCompair earns from qualifying purchases."

We will update this page if our programme participation changes or if new disclosure rules come into force in any of the regions we operate in. The "last updated" date is at the top of this page.
